William Powell and Carole Lombard on their wedding day. |
A bit of trivia for you:
William Powell and Carole Lombard met while working together in Man of the World (1931) and Ladies' Man (1931), and were married soon after, on June 6, 1931, at Lombard's Beverly Hills home. The intellectual and sophisticated Powell was 38, while his carefree and famously foul-mouthed bride was 22. Although the marriage lasted only 26 months, ending in August 1933, the two remained close friends until Lombard's tragic death in a plane crash in January 1942.
