Christmas has always been a source of inspiration to many artists and writers. Over the years, filmmakers have adapted various Christmas stories into both movies and television specials, which have become staples during the holiday season all around the world. Even though Christmas is my favourite holiday, I haven't watched a lot of Christmas films. Still, I thought it would be fun to rank my top 10 favourites, based on the ones that I have indeed seen. Here they are.    10. Holiday Affair (1949) Directed by Don Hartman, Holiday Affair tells the story of a young widow (Janet Leigh) torn between a boring attorney (Wendell Corey) and a romantic drifter (Robert Mitchum). She's engaged to be married to the boring attorney, but her son (Gordon Gebert) likes the romantic drifter better. Who will she choose? Well, I think we all know who she will choose. Directed by Don Hartman, Holiday Affair (1949) centers on Connie Ennis (Janet Leigh), a young war widow deeply devoted to her six-year-old son, Timmy (Gordon Gebert), and the memory of her deceased husband, Guy. She works as a comparison shopper, going from store to store purchasing certain items to secretly analyze competitors' prices and product quality. One day, just before Christmas, after buying and returning an expensive toy train, Connie's cover is blown by a handsome store clerk named Steve Mason (Robert Mitchum). Steve threatens to report her to the store detective, which would lead to her firing, but takes pity on her once he learns of her financially precarious situation. Since he fails to turn Connie in, Steve ends up losing his own job. Steve and Connie become friends and he finds himself attracted to her, although he lectures her for trying to turn Timmy into the image of his dead father.
